        At the end of the lesson, we will:

● be aware of(意识到) the importance of helping others;

● be able to recommend(介绍) ways of helping others;

● be able to express care and concern(表达关心) with the words and expressions in this lesson.

Using proper ways to express care and concern and find ways to help those who are in trouble.

Enjoy the song and try to sing with it.

Ask the Ss to read the lesson and find some clue words to explain the underlined words and expressions.

【CCTV held a charity(慈善) show in May to raise money for the earthquake-hit areas(震区)  in Sichuan. Many famous stars took part in the show. They didn’t ask for any pay, they all did it for free. There were a lot of performances like singing, dancing and cross-talks(相声 ). During the show, they donated money to the disaster areas(灾区). 】

 

 

Discuss one of the ways and get more ideas from the extra reading.

Read at least(至少) one passage(一段) and find out how she/he offers(提供) help.

【Mario loves animals and wants to be an animal doctor. He volunteers at an animal hospital every Saturday morning.Mario believes it can help him to get his future dream job. “It’s hard work,” he says, “but I want to learn more about how to care for animals. I get such a strong feeling of satisfaction(满意) when I see the animals get better and the look of joy on their owners’ faces.”

Mary is a book lover. She could read by herself at the age of four. Last year, she decided to try out for a volunteer after-school reading program. She still works there once a week to help kids learn to read. “The kids are sitting in the library, but you an see in their eyes that they’re going on a different journey with each new book. Volunteering here is a dream come true for me. I can do what I love to do and help others at the same time.

It was a cold and snowy morning. On my way to my new school, a girl on a bike passed me quickly. She was riding on ice when suddenly she fell off her bike a few steps in front of me. Without thinking, I went over and helped her stand up. She said, “Thank you,” with a smile and then rode away. The words “Thank you” warmed me and this small event made me feel less nervous about my new school.】
